The slow life in Shinan, soothing and serene, light years away from hi-tech Seoul & intensified tensions over North Korea’s nuclear threats
The little-known Shinan group of Islands is located off the southwest of South Korea, in Shinan County (Sinan-gun), South Jeolia Province.
There are a total of 1,004 islands and I was lucky enough to spend the month of July 2017 at an artist residency on the largest one, Anjwa, surrounded by paddie fields, mudflats, salt fields and aquafarms.
The Land of the Morning Calm lives up to its name.
